Solo Show | Bishop Brossart Art Gallery
This show was a collection of my current work. I was able to be in the gallery each Sunday to talk about my work and answer questions. That was truly a gift. Another gift I received was that of support; given by family, friends, students and the general public. I appreciated the time and energy everyone took to come view my work.
A very special thank you to Mike Enzweiler, a fellow artist and now friend, for all his hard work in putting this show together
and getting the word out. Thank you also to Chucks Auto Body for sponsoring the exhibit.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Vessels are frequently made in the ceramics discipline and have been a staple of civilization throughout history. We use vessels to contain mundane items, but also essential items such as food, water and medicines. Even still, we use vessels to contain some of our most sacred and intimate items, including mementos from special places, delicate heirlooms and even the ashes of those who have passed away. I often consider the unique items that we deem sacred enough to deserve a special place to contain it. I think about the many boxes I have kept over the years, filled with cards from family, photographs, and in an essence, memories. It is with this in mind, that I am fueled to make unique, refined and carefully crafted vessels. The shear nature of hand building is also an intimate thing, as one uses their own ideas, their physical body and will to create an object. Both that experience and the idea of creating a personal object to hold an individuals most cherished memories, is what draws me to creating one-of-a kind vessels. It is important to me, to make the form, surface and mark-making as unique as those items which we cherish. |
